Control generation

We have shown that known reaction of luminol with peroxydisulphate at low luminol concentrations takes place in the regime of controlled generation of SO ion-radicals at spontaneous destruction of peroxydisulphate. The detection limit for various types of antioxidants in water using this reaction is varied from 10 to 10 M. It is possible also to determine some polluting admixtures present in the atmosphere. The reagent used is the mixture of the luminol, base and K S O, which, once prepai ed, could be used during a working day. [Pg.403]

A 500-ml, three-necked round-bottom flask is fitted with a dropping funnel and a reflux condenser. In the flask is placed 150 ml of absolute ethanol. Sodium metal (4.6 g, 0.2 g-atom) is cut into small pieces and introduced into the flask so as to maintain a rapid but controlled generation of hydrogen. When the sodium has completely... [Pg.99]

Fig. 8 Long range charge transport between dppz complexes of Ru(III) and an artificial base, methyl indole, in DNA. The methyl indole is paired opposite cytosine and separated from the intercalating oxidant by distances up to 37 A. In all assemblies, the rate constant for methyl indole formation was found to be coincident with the diffusion-controlled generation of Ru(III) (> 107 s )> indicating that charge transport is not rate limiting over this distance regime... Generally static electricity can be overcome or controlled by several basic approaches - bonding, grounding, and controlled generation. [Pg.150]

Hexavalent chromate [Cr(VI)] is still used within the industry to meet critical high corrosion control and other metal surface finishing requirements. Cr(VI) is toxic and its control generates a hazardous, costly waste. [Pg.626]

Much simpler than the template-controlled generation of p-functionalized isocyanides is their direct use. 2-Hydroxyalkyl isocyanide 59, where the nucleophilic group and the isocyanide are linked together, spontaneously cyclizes upon activation of the isocyanide by coordination to an electron-poor metal center under... [Pg.114]

The template-controlled generation of ylidene ligands from (3-functionalized isocyanides constitutes an alternative access to complexes with cyclic diaminocar-benes. It proceeds via the complexes with NH,NH-stabilized ylidene ligands which are easily alkylated at the heteroatoms. Such complexes are valuable and reactive intermediates for the generation of complexes with macrocyclic ligands possessing NHC donors (see Sect. 4). [Pg.117]

In combustion experiments, there are two key considerations first, generating a flame and second, detecting the species of interest. Gaseous flows in a flame can be classified as laminar (streamlined layers) or turbulent. While these flames can be analyzed directly, it is less confounding to study flame chemistry through controlled generation of reactive species in one of a wide variety of experimental apparata. [Pg.88]

Radioisotope generators provide a desirable alternative to cyclotrons for the production of short lived positron emitters. A fully automated microprocessor controlled generator system for obtaining 76 sec rubidium-82 is described in detail. [Pg.97]

The concept of in situ liberation of carbon monoxide would be even more attractive if a metal-free material could serve as the carbon monoxide source. In the ideal carbonylation method, the organic solvent itself could be exploited for controlled generation of carbon monoxide. In 2002, Wan et al. addressed this issue and developed a microwave-promoted carbamoylation process based on the commonly used solvent dimethylformamide (DMF) as the carbon monoxide precursor75. Firstly, it was discovered that aryl dimethyl amides were accessible from the corresponding bromides in the presence of a nucleophilic catalyst, imidazole (Scheme 2.34). Secondly, tertiary benzamides other than dimethylamides were synthesised by addition of 3 equiv of an external amine (Scheme 2.34). [Pg.38]

A new method of kinetically controlled generation of the more substituted enolate from an unsymmetrical ketone involves precomplexation of the ketone with aluminium tris(2,6-diphenylphenoxide) (ATPH) at —78°C in toluene, followed by deprotonation with diisopropylamide (LDA) highly regioselective alkylations can then be performed.22 ATPH has also been used, through complexation, as a carbonyl protector of y./)-unsaturated carbonyl substrates during regioselective Michael addition of lithium enolates (including dianions of /i-di carbonyl compounds).23... [Pg.331]

The PTOC carbamate method for efficient and controlled generation of aminyl radicals allows kinetic studies that previously were not possible with tetrazene precursors. As is the case with carbon radicals, optimum synthetic utility of chain reaction sequences is found when absolute rate constants or ratios of rate constants for competing reactions are known, i.e., Scheme 8, step D vs step E. If an absolute rate constant is known for one reaction, then other absolute rate constants can be determined for other reactions from the product distributions in competitions of the reactions of interest with the reaction with a known rate constant. [Pg.14]

One of the best methods for the controlled generation of alkenaminyl radicals is via PTOC carbamates (Section II,E). These precursors react in efficient radical chain reactions with hydrogen atom donors to form amines and pyrrolidines. They are stable to anhydrous acids and, therefore, are suitable precursors for aminium radicals produced by protonation of the first-formed neutral aminyl radical. [Pg.23]

Ronald et al. analyzed the direct costs of physician claims and the number of hospital admissions for OSAS patients in the Canadian Manitoba governmental health agency database. They found that 181 patients (145 men, 36 women) with untreated OSAS were shown to utilize health care at twice the rate of controls up to 10 years before diagnosis (48). The most significant increase in physician claims was noted up to 3 years before diagnosis. The total physician claims were 686,365 (Canadian) with a mean of 3792/patient, whereas controls generated 356,376 with a mean of 1969/patient. OSAS patients had almost a twofold increase in hospitalizations compared to controls over the 10-year period ... [Pg.217]

Levy et al.5 and Kaufman and Sen3 investigated cobalt and nickel borides as catalysts for controlled generation of H2 from NaBH, solutions. Brown and Brown6 investigated various metal salts and found that ruthenium and rhodium salts liberated H2 most rapidly from borohydride solutions. These results, along with our own work, indicated that ruthenium would most likely be the most active metal for catalysis of... [Pg.76]
