Continuous degassing

Many commercial split flow capillary LC systems incorporate a nano flow sensor mounted online to the capillary channel. The split flow system can be easily modified from a conventional system and performs satisfactorily for capillary LC applications. However, the split flow system may require thermal control and the LC solvent requires continuous degassing. In addition, the system may not work reliably at a high flow split ratios and at pressures above 6000 psi due to technical limitations of the fused silica thermal conductivity flow sensor. The split flow system based on conventional check valve design may not be compatible with splitless nano LC applications. The conventional ball-and-seat check valve is not capable of delivering nano flow rates and is not reliable for 7/24 operation at low flow. 

Since historical times, Stromboli has been characterised by continuous degassing and persistent discrete mildly strombolian explosions emitting scoriae and ashes every few minutes random larger explosions and effusion of lava flows have occurred every few years. The active craters are located at an altitude of about 750 m, on a terrace sited at the top of the Sci-ara del Fuoco. This is a large depression bounded by parallel faults, developed along the NW flank of the volcano and continuing under the sea level almost to the foot of the cone. 

Today, manufacturers are confronted with a constant drive towards energy- and raw material savings in manufacturing processes, increased environmental requirements, and competitiveness. Under this pressure, many non- or only partially continuous degassing processes will eventually be replaced by a continuous process. 

The PVC slurry and unreacted VCM from the polymerization reactors are fed to the blowdown tank—the intermediate buffer between the discontinuous polymerization and the continuous degassing and drying unit. 

Ozone was prepared from a tesla coil discharge through O2. The ozone was triply distilled at — 186°C and collected at — 196°C with continuous degassing.
