Continuous Polymerizations As previously mentioned, fifteen continuous polymerizations in the tubular reactor were performed at different flow rates (i.e. (Nj g) ) with twelve runs using identical formulations and three runs having different emulsifier and initiator concentrations. A summary of the experimental runs is presented in Table IV and the styrene conversion vs reaction time data are presented graphically in Figures 7 to 9. It is important to note that the measurements of pressure and temperature profiles, flow rate and the latex properties indicated that steady state operation was reached after a period corresponding to twice the residence time in the tubular reactor. This agrees with Ghosh s results ).

Shortly after the first oral contraceptives were introduced around 1959, the fact that some women noticed acute effects on the breast led to fears that the ultimate consequence might be induction of mammary disorders, particularly tumors the same concerns were raised about estrogen replacement therapy (125). The debate on this issue has now continued for more than 30 years and it is characterized by contradictions, discrepancies in scientific findings, qualified statements, and controversies and a massive output of data and opinions. The present review will necessarily be confined to some of the highlights of the discussion, presented in Table 1, leading up to a summary of the present situation and the questions that still remain open. 

Some basic knowledge of accounting is necessary before a chemical professional can develop and obtain the data needed to analyze a firm s operations, discover whether the firm is making a profit, and predict whether a company will continue to make a profit. It is also essential to know how a firm s operations are reported to determine its role in a particular industry or in the national economy. Financial reports of the individual firm are one of the most important sources of data for the national accounting summaries presented in Chapter 2 and for the in-put-output tables in Chapter 4.

Bar and Bernstein continued their work on conformational polymorphism, using lattice energy minimization techniques to characterize the influence of crystal forces (as well as orientational and positional disorder) on the molecular conformation of/>-methyl-A -(p-methylbenzylidine)aniline [36], This compound has been obtained in three polymorphic forms, in which the title molecule was found to adopt different conformations in each form. A summary of the reported crystallographic data is found in Table 13. 

The varied magnetic properties of the elemental lanthanide metals have attracted researchers over decades. The continuously improving purity of the materials has led to a munber of revisions to the state of our understanding with time. A summary of the main crystallographic and magnetic parameters is presented in table 2. Details on bulk measurements can be foimd, for example, in Rhyne (1972) and McEwen (1978), neutron data in Koehler (1972) and Sinha (1978). A modem treatise on magnetic properties is given by Jensen and Mackintosh (1991). All metals contain the 3 ion except Eu and Yb which are 2. ... 

In practical cases, Kubelka-Munk, 1/T, absorbance ratios, derivatives, and other transforms have been applied to data with scattering properties. Continued research on the interaction of radiation reflected from different types of solid surfaces would be extremely useful. A summary of the measurement characteristics and their effects on reflected energy from solid surfaces is delineated in Table 1. 

Chromium(ni) continues to be the second most widely studied metal ion after cobalt(m). The question of dissociative (/a) or associative (/a) mechanisms for substitutions at chromium(m) has been clarified somewhat by comparing data for the formation and dissociation of the [Cr(H20)5X] + and [Cr(NH8)5X] + ions (X = unidentate leaving anion). Recent studies indicate that an associative mechanism is important for aqua-chromium(m) complexes, but for the [Cr(NHa)6X] + ions a dissociative-interchange mechanism is favoured. A summary of kinetics and thermodynamic data for the formation and aquation of [Cr(NH3)5X] + ions is given in Table 12.
