Continuity Assurance

Detailed operating procedures have been established through careful study by engineering and operating personnel which promote an atmosphere of care and safety when the customer stations are handled beginning with start up. Initial start up and cooldown of each system is attended by an engineer and conducted in accordance with procedures which will minimize venting and assure that each component of the system is functional. In addition, scheduled preventative maintenance inspections are conducted by maintenance personnel to provide continuous assurance of equipment dependability. 

In spite of such arguments, it must be noted that even when a waiver transfer is judged to be justified and acceptable, it may still be prudent to expect a minimum interlaboratory cross-over testing to provide continued assurance that the receiving lab can reliably and competently perform the tests. 

Continued assurance of sterility for all sterile products can be assessed by a variety of means, including evaluation of the container and closure integrity by an appropriate challenge test or tests, or sterility testing as described in Section VII.C. Stability studies should evaluate product stability following exposure to at least the maximum specified process lethality (e.g., F, Mrads). 

Inspection and Testing of Components of Gas-Cooled Plants, provides a basis for determining ISI requirements. For these components, the functions are considered for each, and only those provisions of Section XI, Division 2 which provide continuing assurance that the principal radionuclide control function is maintained are established as requirements. Material surveillance is also included in the Section XI requirements. 

For electrical and electronic components requiring high reliability in meeting licensing requirements, the applicable provisions of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) standards (e.g., IEEE-308, IEEE-338, and IEEE-603) for surveillance are met. Also the provisions of the IEEE standards which provide continuing assurance that the SSCs primary neutron control function is maintained are established as requirements.

Risk management constitutes an essential element of processes continuity assurance by the identification, assessment and prevention of the effects of the crucial integrated threats. In the situation of the risk materialisation it gives the opportunity for the reaction on the effects of the critical threats. 

The implication of the proposed risk management methodology in several organisations has confirmed its effectiveness in processes continuity assurance independently on system and operational character of the identified integrated risk. 

The Second Review Conference reaffirmed the importance of factual reporting by the Secretariat to the Council and the States Parties on verification results, in the interests of transparency and continued assurance of States Parties compliance. One Fortran subtlety deserves elaboration. The 200 do-loop defines two separate difference equations for the flows left and right of the front, but the pressure updating in the 260 do-loop refers to a single pressure. So long as the front does not move more than one mesh in a time step, errors due to copying liquid pressure as gas pressure, or conversely, do not exist, assuming small capillary pressures. Pressure continuity assures that both blocks will contain identical pressures.
