Context philosophical

The content of a curriculum must be functional when dealing with societal activities necessary chemical concepts, skills and attitudes with respect to macro-micro thinking must be included. This can be derived from representative authentic tasks. The content of the curriculum should be considered as a chemical toolbox. The traditional content of the present chemistry curriculum, such as the stmcture of atoms, ionic theoiy, fundamental acid-base calculations, are not necessarily part of the chemical toolbox when addressing chemical and technological tasks. The validity of the toolbox (philosophical substmcture) is determined by the representative practices and tasks related to chemistry (cf need-to-know principle in context-based approaches). 

But as philosophers have remarked and courts have ruled, the right to privacy is not absolute. In fact, the place and importance of the right to privacy are still being explored, as the Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992) demonstrate. As a result, decisions regarding the right to privacy are very often driven by context. Such may be the case with situations involving computer use, the right to privacy, and pharmaceutical research.

Albert Tauber. Let us not complain here about reductionism. Rather let s do reductive studies with more sophistication, taking into account of context and complexity, which is what you have done. The philosophical issue seems to me to remain the same, if one, in fact, is going to discuss molecular biology, and stay at the level that you have. So without an alternative philosophical position, I don t see this as a criticism of reduction per se. 

I feel the need for some comment on the quite frequently used word proof in the present context. Amongst philosophers of science there is now wide-ranging support for Popper s thesis that, in principle, one cannot prove any scientific proposition, because it is always possible that progress will make available some other interpretation of the phenomena in question only disproof is possible. However, as I have explained elsewhere [152], in chemistry, a very mature subject, it is often appropriate for practical purposes to use the terms proof and proving without excuses or qualifications.

Both the material and the philosophical meanings of the word salt were in constant use, the context usually making clear the meaning intended. The real salt obtained by water extraction from the residue of fire analysis, like common salt, had taste solubility and taste came to be the chief properties by which salts were identified. By these criteria, liquid acids also came to be classed as salts.
