Magnesium is not attacked seriously by dry chlorine [7782-50-5] iodine [7553-56-2] bromine, or fluorine [7782-41 ] gas. However, the presence of water promotes attack. Similarly, sulfur dioxide, ammonia, and fluorine-containing refrigerants do not attack in the absence of water. 

Large quantities of evaporated milk are used to manufacture ice cream, bakery products, and confectionery products (see Bakery processes and LEAVENING agents). When used for manufacturing other foods, evaporated milk is not sterilized, but placed in bulk containers, refrigerated, and used fresh. This product is caHed condensed milk. Skimmed milk may be used as a feedstock to produce evaporated skimmed milk. The moisture content of other Hquid milk products can be reduced by evaporation to produce condensed whey, condensed buttermilk, and concentrated sour milk.

Rail traffic is mainly in purpose-built, insulated wagons, many of these having self-contained refrigeration systems. Some produce is pre-cooled and/or iced. Re-icing stations are available on the longer routes in Europe.

It is essential that a Dewar flask be silvered if it is to be used as a liquid nitrogen (LN) container. Unsilvered flasks have the advantage of transparency, but absorb heat from the surroundings and the contained refrigerant soon evaporates. 

By the time of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (the "Montreal Protocol"), it was widely recognised that chlorine containing refrigerants, particularly CFCs, were implicated in the depletion of the Earth s ozone layer. With the establishment of the Montreal Protocol and the subsequent legislation passed in participating countries, there came a need in the refrigeration industry to find suitable replacements for CFC refrigerants as quickly as possible. HCFCs were subsequently added to the list of substances to be phased out under the Montreal Protocol in 1992. 

One way to provide cooKng within a suit is to pump cool, breathable air into the suit and distribute it before exhausting it to the surround. There are self-contained refrigeration or air conditioning units available for fuU body suits. Also, there is special underwear with small mbes that allow coolant to flow to legs, arms, and body.
