Construction traffic signs

This subpart details the signs required when hazards are present and the notifications required when an employee is nearthat hazard. There are six main signs danger, caution, exit, safety instruction, directional, and traffic signs, that are used on a construction site. The subpart also states what color each sign must be and the size requirements for every sign.

Construction areas shall be posted with legible traffic signs at points of hazard (Figure 6-2). All traffic control signs or devices used for protection of construction workers shall conform to American National Standards Institute D6.1, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways.

By making use of innovative technologies, the Lotus Effect can be used on many different products. For example, self-cleaning surfaces could be used for self-adhesive films, injection moulded parts or painted components in the construction industry, for facade elements or window frames, for traffic facilities such as road signs, and not to forget cars themselves. 

Perimeter fences that block sidewalks must contain adequate signs directing pedestrian traffic to a safe walkway. Place primary signs on the perimeter fence. However, use other signs to conununicate other safety-related information to pedestrians. Inform contractors to keep all corridors and exit doors clear at aU times. Keep all external exit ways, walks, and drives free from debris, material, tools, and vehicles. Contractors mnst conduct all safety training and education of their employees. Many healthcare organizations may reqnire some construction workers to attend facility-conducted sessions. 

On most construction sites, every precaution is taken to move traffic safely around the site. However, it takes only one mistake to cause an accident. Mark your work area with plenty of cones, signs, and flashing arrows. If possible, park a vehicle between you and the rest of the construction site. As an added precaution, point the wheels in the direction you want the vehicle to go if it is struck.
