Consolidation procedure

The Diels-Alder reaction on solid support was first performed 20 years ago and is now a consolidated procedure [2b]. 

To determine the quantitative effects of this consolidation procedure, fabric disks cut from the extracted degraded fabric were used as substrates. These fabrics were torn on an Instron tensile testing machine as described earlier and patched with six applications of either the 0.1% dyed wood pulp or the 0.05% dyed Cellunier P slurry. The samples were then torn again on the Instron tester. The average breaking strengths and add-ons of the samples after six passes with slurry are reported in Table IV. A typical tom fabric and a patched fabric are shown in Figures 6 and 7. 

As the available shearing distance is only about 6 mm, steady state shear must be obtained within a distance of about 4 mm so that the remaining 2 mm can be used for the actual test. In contrast to Consolidations procedure, one wishes to preserve CaS unchanged during a calcination step in the new desulfurization process, and the calciner off-gas should contain H2 in an amount greater than that called for by Figure 4. Since CaS04 is readily reduced by H2 to CaS at 930°F. (53), it would appear desirable that H2 also be present during Reaction 1 to avoid oxidation of CaS by steam.

Fiber reinforcements are compacted in a consolidation procedure in which external loads are applied to compress fibers, to squeeze air and resin out, to suppress voids, and to increase the fiber volume fraction. Before compaction, the fiber reinforcement networks are unable to carry traction stresses at/or below a certain initial critical fiber volume fraction,. As the fiber volume fraction, pj, increases under compression, the network can carry a rapidly increasing load. Eventually, the fiber volume fraction of the network approaches a theoretical maximum based on the relevant close-packed geometry, and cannot increase without an enormous increase in load. The compressibility of the fiber reinforcement network is dependent not only on the elastic properties of fibers, but also on the configuration of the fiber reinforcement network as well, that is... 

Here, is a factor relevant to the material and structural properties of the fiber reinforcement network, ranging from 0 to 1. The limiting case is that k = 1 for the compressibility of the fiber reinforcement network being fully elastic and k = 0 for it being fully plastic . Since in most practical consolidation procedures the fiber reinforcement networks are not severely damaged, k = 1 can be taken as a reasonable first order approximation. 

Until now we have looked at various aspects of light scattering under several limiting conditions, specifically, C2 = 0, 0 = 0, or both. Actual measurements, however, are made at finite values of both C2 and 6. In the next section we shall consider a method of treating experimental data that consolidates all of the various extrapolations into one graphical procedure. 

The removal of zinc chloride involves an extremely lengthy procedure. The plied sheets are passed through a series of progressively more dilute zinc chloride solutions and finally pure water in order to leach out the gelatinising agent. This may take several months. The sheets are then dried and consolidated under light pressure.

SWS/SWA, in particular, may play an important role in somatic and cognitive restoration, including the consolidation of certain forms of procedural and declarative memory. A substantial diminution in the amount of SWS/SWA occurs across the human lifespan. This decline is beginning already in adolescence and middle-aged adults have only 25% of the SWS observed in young adults, whereas the elderly have almost none. While the clinical importance of these phenomena is unknown, it is reasonable to speculate that they may be related to the increase of sleep complaints associated with aging. 

The consolidation of individual values into an overall value is possible by a number of other methods. The geometric mean calculation has a particularly distinguishing characteristic that if any individual desirability factor is zero, indicating that a response is outside of its acceptable limits, the overall desirability is zero. An optimization procedure to maximize the overall desirability function will therefore seek to remain within the acceptable ranges of all responses even though individual maximization, minimization, or an acceptable range of response values are required. As a result of a lot of thinking by a lot of people, there has emerged an alternative proposal that attempts to consolidate the best of the opposition and reexamination procedures to achieve the beneficial effects and yet to reduce the costs of not only oppositions but also patent litigation. This alternative proposal has provided the focus for attempts to improve S.2255. This proposal has come to be known as "Chapter 31 because that was its place in a bill introduced in the Senate by Senator Fong. It had broad support from industry and bar associations, but it didn t carry in the Senate in its original form.
