Cone feeder

Besides a three-way cock, other devices can also be used for mixing, for example a cone feeder with tangential reaction stream feed, a vessel equipped with disks rotating on their axes, a cylinder into which the initial components are fed turbulently, and various tubes for producing turbulent streams, etc. [Pg.123]

Paste tank. The paste tank is a closed cylindrical steel tank. The upper part of the tank has inspection doors and hoses for cooling air inlet and outlet. There are also pipes for the inlet of acid and water. The sides of the tank have two discharging doors that are used to dump the final prepared paste into the cone feeder. [Pg.189]

Hopper function and operating mechanism. The hopper is main part/ components of the pasting machine. The paste is dropped into the hopper s form cone feeder and by the combined action of rotating paddles and roller. [Pg.192]

Equipment and Procedure. Figure 1 is a diagram of the continuous, 2%-in. id fluidized bed combustion unit that was used. The melt is fed via syringe feeders and is dropped from a remote drip tip into a batch bed of fluidized solids that is fluidized by feed air that enters at the apex of the reactor cone. The carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur are burned out in the fluidized bed, and the zinc chloride is vaporized. The gas, zinc chloride vapor, and elutriated solids leaving the reactor pass through the cyclone where the solids are collected. The cyclone underflow solids... [Pg.161]

Determination of the Copper and Zinc.—One or more tins are emptied into the feeder of a mincing machine and the whole thoroughly triturated, 100 grams being then dried in an oven and carefully incinerated and the ash heated with excess of cone, nitric acid and evaporated on a water-bath until the arid is completely expelled. The residue is heated with distilled water and a drop of dilute nitric arid, the liquid bring filtered and any carbonaceous residue on the filter well washed with water. [Pg.17]

Solids conveying is carried out in two steps the feed hopper and the back (entrance) portion of the screw. The feed hopper is an inverted cone or pyramid, in which solid pellets or powder flow downward from the force of gravity. If they flow poorly ( arcing or bridging ), the problem may be solved by installing a vibrator or a stirrer ( crammer/feeder ) in the hopper, or by coating the particles with a small amount of a chemical that acts as an external lubricant. ... [Pg.670]

A sample splitter described by Fooks [24] consists of a feeder funnel through which the sample is fed. It passes on to the apex of two resting cones, the lower fixed and the upper adjustable by means of a spindle. Segments are cut from both cones and by rotation of the upper cone the effective area of the slits can be varied to vary the sampling proportion. Material, which falls through the segmental slots, is passed to a sample pot. The residue passes over the cone and out of the base of the unit. [Pg.34]

The optimisation of the bio-oil was aimed at adjusting the operating conditions of the fast pyrolysis process to maximize the concentration of these reactive groups in the bio-oil, while maintaining a high overall oil yield. Figure 1 shows the main part of the small-scale production facility for small amounts of the oil. It consists of the biomass feeder, the reactor and a bio-oil collection system. Before each experiment, a batch of sand was preheated inside an electrical furnace to about bOO°C, where after it is mixed with cold sawdust in the bottom of the cone. The produced vapours could be immediately removed from the hot reactor, and collected in several water-cooled vessels. [Pg.1589]

The feeder has to function with a volume of material in the bin above it. Obviously, if there is not always a positive volume of material it cannot produce a controlled output, and it is therefore not a feeder. Usually, the bin has a converging flowpath, say a cone, where it joins onto the feeder. The geometry, construction, and surface roughness of this flowpath affects the rate at which material can flow into the feeder, the vertical load transmitted onto the feeder, and the power required to drive the feeder. In the converging flowpath, frictional forces oppose the oncoming load of material, relieving the pressure apphed onto the feeder. [Pg.181]

Six 7.9 m diameter by 22 m. tall silos were used to store high density polyethylene fluff and pellets. Below each cylinder section was a 30° cone terminating at a rotary valve feeder. A radial hopper seam split open on one silo, spilling one million pounds of material onto the ground. The cause of this failure was determined to be mass flow loads. The silo was structurally designed only for funnel flow. See Figure 5. [Pg.161]
