The most common floor coatings are epoxies, urethanes, and water-based epoxies. These coatings are reported to be environmentally friendly and can deliver long-term service on concrete floors. The recommendations from the coating manufacturers should be followed for mixing, reducing, and applying the floor... 

Organic coatings may vary from very dense to rather open for water vapour. A dense coating (ideally without flaws), based on epoxy, polyurethane or chlorinated rubber polymers, may block ingress of aggressive species. Nevertheless, the presence of such a layer strongly hinders the evaporation of the moisture that is present in the concrete at the time of treatment. This situation can lead to loss of adhesion to the concrete and thus to a loss of effectiveness of the coating. 

Uses Epoxy for water dilution in combination with amine curing agents, forming fine particle size emulsions useful as modifiers for Portland cement, concrete, mortars, stuccos, grouts, as binders for trowel-applied floor toppings, as bond coats, base coats, membrane coatings, and sealers...
