Concepts for the future

An intensive development of NPP new concepts for the future has been launched all over the world, their safety would be more based on RI inherent self-protection allowing to eliminate deterministically the possibility of the severest accidents which result in catastrophic consequences not only in the event of failing the safety technical systems and personnel s errors but also in the event of ill-intentioned actions (terrorism, diversions, military attacks) and natural disasters. 

Nevertheless, just as the basic ideas for the understanding of cr>stalline semiconductors were available in the pre-germanium era, very probably most of the present interpretations have a sound foundation and will survive as basic concepts for the future more detailed and better founded work. The recent book on the Electronic Properties in Non-crystalline Materials by Mott and Davis presents an ingenious attempt to correlate the observed electronic effects in disordered solids on the basis of a few concepts derived from some theoretical considerations and generalized with a sharp physical intuition. 

To many purists. Hydrogen Energy is a concept for the future, inspired by environmental and resource consideration, and has no connection with fossil fuels which are seen as finite and limited. While this may be true after, say, the 24th or 25th century (not o far away on an historical perspective), for the present discussion of the 21st century, I believe that we must start from where we find ourselves rather than where ultimately we wish to be. More forcefully, it might also be suggested that even these enforced choices reflect no real freedom for these practitioners. As some critical materialist philosophers suggest instead, the intentions, plans, and concepts of the future these individuals hold-which are all prerequisite to making choices-might be seen as consequences of social processes rather than as causes. That is, what people want might in and of itself be a product of who they are and the role they play in the society and economy. 

Environmental limits vary according to country, and in the future pressure will be applied to those countries where limits are considered too high. Indeed, there is a general trend for discharge limits to be reduced, with the concept of zero industrial discharge for certain metals being the ultimate aim for the future.
