Computers classroom tools

The use of graphic displays as an essential element of computer-based instmctional systems has been exploited in a number of ways. Molecular modeling and visualization techniques have supplemented the traditional set of stick models in courses on organic and inorganic chemistry, and animation of molecular motion and of the progress or mechanism of chemical reactions has been a useful classroom tool. 

New ideas about howto teach chemistry are constantly being developed, and many of them are reflected in how our textbook is organized and in the ways in which topics are presented. This edition incorporates a number of new methodologies to assist students, including use of the Internet, computer-based classroom tools, Web-based tools, particularly MasteringChemistry , and more effective means of testing. 

In contrast,Chapter 11 looks at the very recent introduction of computer-based multimedia technologies into chemical education as a way of forging macro/sub-micro/symbolic links. Chiu and Wu discuss the value of such approaches as, respectively, a modelling tool, a learning tool, an assessment tool and an instructional tool. Their thesis is given added weight by the inclusion of results from classroom development and evaluation projects.

It should be pointed out that this work do not bring something iimova-tive in the calculations reported but it can be easily applied in the classroom as a basis for understanding the complex computational tools available these days. The systems presented have been selected according to didactical considerations and the comparisons and correlations established can be used as a trend in the analysis of other organic or inorganic compoimds.
