Computer Techniques for Using the IBM Card File

Smithson et al (1966) have produced the earliest program for the IBM 7090 computer. Since then their method has been adapted to other computers (Savitzky, [Pg.540]

For information on the availability of programs for particular computers it is helpful to write to ASTM. [Pg.542]

This system is used on the IBM-1130. Band-no-band data are entered via the computer keyboard in either microns or wave numbers. Other physical data are entered by code numbers 1 through 32. Searching a single disk file of about 40,000 spectra takes only 40 sec. Data can be added to selectively, or deleted from the search masks after each search. No re-entry of data is necessary to search additional disk files. [Pg.542]

Output from the program consists of the ASTM assigned serial numbers which may be used to look up the name of the compound, and the reference to the location of the spectrum. The data coded for any reference spectrum index may also be printed by entering its serial number. The program is a modified form of the one developed by Erley (1968). and inquiries should be made of the ASTM, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19103. [Pg.542]
