Compromise strategy

As indicated earlier, the aim is to develop a compromise strategy which - like segmentation itself - seeks to describe logistics strategy as simply as possible while doing our best to emphasise its variety (Millier and Palmer, 2000). [Pg.57]

Finally, integration of multiple scales at different resolution may provide a best-compromise strategy to include the required information at... [Pg.41]

Many research compounds are poorly soluble in water. When very lipophilic molecules precipitate in the donor wells, it is possible to filter the donor solution before the PAMPA sandwich is prepared. On occasion, the filtered donor solution contains such small amounts of the compound that determination of concentrations by UV spectrophotometry becomes impractical. One strategy to overcome the precipitation of the sample molecules in the donor wells is to add a cosolvent to the solutions (Section 7.4.4). It is a strategy of compromise and practicality. Although the cosolvent may solubilize the lipophilic solute molecule, the effect on transport may be subtle and not easy to predict. At least three mechanisms may cause Pe and membrane retention (%R) values to alter as a result of the cosolvent addition. To a varying extent, all three mechanisms may simultaneously contribute to the observed transport ... [Pg.226]

However, even if this strategy seems very attractive, the EGR gases densification also shows several drawbacks (see Figure 7.3). Because of a lower temperature range, the combustion no longer allows the complete oxidation of the fuel carbon species that can be released in the exhaust line in the form of unburnt hydrocarbons. With EuroV constraints, the previous NO,/particle compromise is now substituted by a new one the NO,/IIC compromise. [Pg.215]

The article by Rovira10 stands out for the clarity of its ideas. It sets out an up-to-date description of the pharmaceutical industry and the Spanish market before and after the single market, and its chief merit is its suggestions for a common strategy for the EU. The diagnosis focuses on three points the need for different policies for innovative and non-innovative products, the importance of expected benefits as an incentive for innovation and the existence of conflicts of objectives at national level and between national and EU interests, the solution of which requires compromises of different sorts. [Pg.216]
