Mesna dose is typically 60-100% of ifosfamide dose (1 1 for continuous infusion ifosfamide) ifosfamide and mesna are physically compatible and may be delivered in same IV bag CNS toxicity and nausea and vomiting may be more severe with rapid infusion case reports suggest methylene blue may be effective treatment for CNS toxicity Antidote for extravasation sodium thiosulfate very short stability in aqueous solutions, about 1 hour Used as topical solution or in compounded ointments for mycosis fungoides... [Pg.2307]

Parrish s Compound Ointment of Tobacco Basilicon omtmcnt ( ee No. 4964), 13 ounces troy powdered camphor, 29 drachms extract of belladonna, 2 ounces fluid extract of tobacco (made as in the above formnla), 6 ounces. Dissolve the extract of belladonna in the fluid extract of tobacco and add to tbo melted ointment, in which the camphor should be previously dissolved. Stir constantly till cool. Dr. Parrish has stated, in the Hew Jersey Medical Reporter, tlmt he uses this ointment in nearly eve case of mammary abscess, with entire satisf tion. [Pg.311]

Undecylenic acid preparations are used in the treatment of various dermatomycoses, especially tinea pedis. Concentrations of the acid as high as 10%, as well as those of the acid and salt in the compound ointment, may be applied to the skin. The preparations usually are not irritating to tissue, and sensitization is uncommon. In tinea pedis, the infection frequently persists despite intensive treatment and the clinical cure rate is at best 50%. Other agents therefore are preferred. Undecylenic acid preparations also are approved for use in the treatment of diaper rash, tinea cruris, and other minor dermatological conditions. [Pg.811]

Compound Ointment of Benzoic Acid, B.P.C. Contains 6 per cent of benzoic acid and 3 per cent of salicyclic acid in a mixture of emulsifying wax and paraffins. [Pg.124]

The determination of methyl salicylate in Compound Ointment of Methyl Salicylate, B.P.C. (which contains 50 per cent with aromatics in beeswax and hydrous wool fat) and Non-Staining Ointment of Iodine with Methyl Salicylate, B.P.C. (see also p. 314) is the same as given above using 0 3 g and 3-0 g respectively. [Pg.432]

The method of determining phenols based upon coupling with 4-amino-phenazone (see Phenol p. 514) has been applied to the determination of methyl salicylate in ointments by Johnson and Savidge. Because of the possibility of hydrolysis of methyl salicylate to the free acid, which gives no reaction (see Note below under Non-Staining Ointment of Iodine), it has not been possible to quote an E(1 per cent, 1 cm) value for the final solution and calculations should always be made from a standard or a calibration curve prepared at the same time as the assay is being carried out. The method for Ointment of Methyl Salicylate, B.P.C., and Compound Ointment of Methyl Salicylate, B.P.C., is as follows ... [Pg.432]

Compound Ointment of Resorcinol, B.P.C. Avery complex ointment containing 4 per cent of resorcinol, 8 per cent of bismuth subnitrate and 4 per cent of zinc oxide with other ingredients. [Pg.551]

The bromine process is particularly useful in the presence of benzoic acid (r/. Compound Ointment of Benzoic Acid) which does not react with bromine. According to Kolthoff the precipitate of tribromophenol may be filtered off and the benzoic acid isolated from the filtrate. [Pg.558]
