Nonwoven mats of cellulose microfibrils were also used to prepare polyurethane composite materials via film stacking method [160], Water-redispersible nanofibrillated cellulose in powder form was recently prepared from refined bleached beech pulp by carboxymethylation and mechanical disintegration [161], However, the carboxymethylated sample displayed a loss of crystallinity and strong decrease in thermal stability limiting its use for nanocomposite processing. [Pg.91]

A similar technique was demonstrated by Wang et al They also fabricated buckypaper but incorporated an epoxy-hardener blend by Buchner filtration. To reduce the viscosity, the blend was mixed with acetone. Very good infiltration was observed throughout the paper. The epoxy was cured by hot pressing 3-5 stacked sheets together at 177 °C to form a thick composite film. [Pg.92]

In 2012, G. H. Kim et al. prepared Gp-filled PEDOT PSS composite films via solution spin coating method [3]. XPS and Raman analyses identified that strong tt-tt interactions existed between Gp and PEDOT PSS, which facilitated the dispersion of Gp in the polymer matrix and reduced the carrier hopping barrier. The uniformly distributed Gp increased the interfacial area by 2-10 times as compared with CNT based composite on the same weight percentage. Moreover, well-stacked multilayer structure... [Pg.369]

Very recently, in our group, enhanced self-reinforced PP composites based on commercial PP fabrics were obtained by the film stacking method followed by compression molding introducing different contents of micron-sized quartz particles in the matrix films (unpublished results). Simultaneous improvements of composite tensile strength, ductility and fracture toughness were observed from the addition of quartz to the polymer matrix (Table 14.1). Enhanced degree of consohdation was obtained for the composites with quartz as evidenced from the improved mechanical properties and by SEM observations. This was also confirmed by acoustic emission analysis in situ in tensile tests. [Pg.514]

A method of manufacturing thermoplastic composite materials by a modified film stacking process was patented [131] involving sandwiching sheets of unidirectional carbon... [Pg.96]

The polymer chosen in the UK for preliminary investigations was the PES, due to its ease of manufacture, its low out-gassing in space and light weight, Hollaway and Thome (1987). Prepreg sheets of the polyethersul-phone/carbon fibre (PES/CF) composite were moulded by the technique of film-stacking technology. [Pg.398]

Absorption spectra of PAA/CuPc composite films, shown in Fig. 6, demonstrate linear dependence of the absorbance on the number of PAA/CuPc layers. The spectra of PAA/ CuPc films are blue-shifted in respect to the spectrum of CuPc aqueous solution. It is believed to be caused by formation of H-aggregates of CuPc molecules in the composite PESA films. The value of the energy shift AE) of the exciton band for the molecular stack of N molecules AEn) in respect to a monomer band E ) can be described as [30] ... [Pg.360]
