Comparison to other systems

We do not include comparisons to other systems since it is quite difficult to ensure the same experimental procedure. Results of other systems on similar designs can be found in this volume. 

Light microscopy allows, in comparison to other microscopic methods, quick, contact-free and non-destmctive access to the stmctures of materials, their surfaces and to dimensions and details of objects in the lateral size range down to about 0.2 pm. A variety of microscopes with different imaging and illumination systems has been constmcted and is conunercially available in order to satisfy special requirements. These include stereo, darkfield, polarization, phase contrast and fluorescence microscopes. 

Toxic chemical munitions have unique characteristics in comparison to other weapons systems, reaching personnel both widely dispersed and concentrated in fortifications, ie, gases and aerosols are not bound by corners. These materials can penetrate crevices reaching personnel physically protected from high explosives. In addition, toxic chemicals are minimum-destmction weapons as regards matHriel (5). 

The magnitudes of the rate constants for the iridium catalyst were close to those obtained for rhodium 3 and osmium 5 based catalyst systems at similar conditions. However, the unusual dependence on catalyst concentration affects its general utility in comparison to other homogeneous catalysts for the hydrogenation of NBR. 

The upgrade of a frequency-domain fluorescence lifetime imaging microscope (FLIM) to a prismless objective-based total internal reflection-FLIM (TIR-FLIM) system is described. By off-axis coupling of the intensity-modulated laser from a fiber and using a high numerical aperture oil objective, TIR-FLIM can be readily achieved. The usefulness of the technique is demonstrated by a fluorescence resonance energy transfer study of Annexin A4 relocation and two-dimensional crystal formation near the plasma membrane of cultured mammalian cells. Possible future applications and comparison to other techniques are discussed. 

It was reported that PEGylated lipase entrapped in PVA cryogel could be conveniently used in organic solvent biocatalysis [279], This method for enzyme immobilization is more convenient in comparison to other types of immobilization that take advantage of enzyme covalent linkage to insoluble matrix, since the chemical step which is time consuming and harmful to enzyme activity is avoided. The application of this catalytic system to the hydrolysis of acetoxycoumarins demonstrated the feasibility of proposed method in the hydrolysis products of pharmaceutical interest and to obtain regioselective enrichment of one of the two monodeacetylated derivatives.
