The only significant doublets are those of microorganisms, for example Colpidium colpoda with Beggiatoa Nitzschia palea with Stigeoclonium Paramecium trichium with Navicula accommoda. 

Certain Berberis aUcaloidal salts, particularly berberine, oxyacanthine, and columba-mine, have bactericidal activities. In one study, berberine chloride showed higher activity than chloramphenicol against Staphylococcus epidermidis, Neisseria meningitidis, Escherichia coli, and other bacteria. Oxyacanthine chloride at 0.01% and columbamine chloride at 1.0% killed Bacillus subtilis and Colpidium colpoda ...
