Coloration bluish

Observable Characteristics - Physical State (as normally shipped) Solid Color Bluish green Odor None. [Pg.89]

The fact that the binder used in the layer can affect the reagent is shown in the monograph on 4-(4-Nitrobenzyl)pyridine reagent. It is not possible to employ this reagent on Nano-SIL C 18-100 UV254 plates (Macherey-Nagel) because the whole surface of the layer is colored bluish-violet. The corresponding water-wettable layers produced by the same manufacturer do not present any difficulties. [Pg.123]

Add 250 pL substtate solution to each tissue section and incubate in the dark. Check under the microscope until the development of the color (bluish purple) is complete. It might take from a few hours to 24 8 h. [Pg.393]

Phloroglucinol melts at 219°, and tastes sweet. An aqueous solution of the phenol is colored bluish-violet by ferric chloride. [Pg.485]

Tsuchiya et al utilized well-known iodo-starch reaction for sensing poly" hydroxy compounds. To realize that, amylose was modified with boronic acid moieties (Scheme 1.13). An aqueous solution containing the boronic acid-modified amylose and iodine (mixture of I2 andKI) is colored bluish purple due to encapsulation of iodine within the helical cavity of amylose. With increasing... [Pg.33]

Dissolve 2 3 drops of o toluidine in a few drops of dil. HCl and add 2 3 drops of ferric chloride solution a green coloration is produced and is slowly replaced by a bluish-green or blue precipitate. [Pg.333]

Ozone s presence in the atmosphere (amounting to the equivalent of a layer 3 mm thick under ordinary pressures and temperatures) helps prevent harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun from reaching the earth s surface. Pollutants in the atmosphere may have a detrimental effect on this ozone layer. Ozone is toxic and exposure should not exceed 0.2 mg/m (8-hour time-weighted average - 40-hour work week). Undiluted ozone has a bluish color. Liquid ozone is bluish black and solid ozone is violet-black. [Pg.21]

A polyester-type fluorescent resin matrix (22) is made by heating trimellitic anhydride, propylene glycol, and phthaUc anhydride with catalytic amounts of sulfuric acid. Addition of Rhodamine BDC gives a bright bluish red fluorescent pigment soluble in DME and methanol. It has a softening point of 118°C. Exceptional heat resistance and color brilliance are claimed for products of this type, which are useful for coloring plastics. [Pg.301]

Color from Incandescence. Any object emits light when heated, with the sequence of blackbody colors, black, red, orange, yellow, white, and bluish-white as the temperature increases. The locus of this sequence is shown on a chromaticity diagram in Eigure 14. [Pg.417]

In the name Procion Red H-E 7B, Procion is the Zeneca trade name for its range of reactive dyes for cotton. Red denotes the main color of the dye. H-E denotes the dye to be hot dyeing and an exhaust dye (high fixation), and 7B denotes it to be a very bluish red dye, ie, a magenta. [Pg.272]

There are instances in which one manufacturer may designate a bluish red dye as Red 4B and another manufacturer uses Violet 2R for the same dye. To resolve such a problem the manufacturers pattern leaflets should be consulted. These show actual dyed pieces of cloth so the colors of the dyes in question can be compared directly in the actual appHcation. Alternatively, colors can be specified in terms of color space coordinates. The Cielab system is becoming the standard in this system the color of a dye is defined by three numbers, the L, a, and b coordinates (see Color). [Pg.272]
