Color plastic tiles

The reference for the measurements is not always stable. In the case study Extruded plastics color (Section 4.7), the white reference tile was checked about once a week for accuracy. 

Furan resins are produced by the polymerization of furfural or furfuryl alcohol in the presence of acids (see Figure 15.8). The properties of these dark-colored resins are shown in Table 15.6. Furan resins have a relatively low heat deflection temperature (80 °C) and good mechanical properties. These materials, which are widely used as jointing materials for brick and tile, are characterized by excellent resistance to nonoxidizing acids, alkalis, and salts but are affected by the presence of oxidizing acids such as nitric acid. The furan plastics are also resistant at room temperature to nonpolar solvents, such as benzene, and to polar solvents, such as ethanol. 

Uses. The most important areas of use of pigments are paints, varnishes, plastics, artists colors, printing inks for paper and textiles, leather decoration, building materials (cement, renderings, concrete bricks and tiles—mostly based on iron oxide and chromium oxide pigments), leather imitates, floor coverings, rubber, paper, cosmetics, ceramic glazes, and enamels. 

Use Accelerator activator, pigment and reinforcing agent in rubber, ointments, pigment and mold-growth inhibitor in paints, UV absorber in plastics, ceramics, floor tile, glass, zinc salts, feed additive, dietary supplement, seed treatment, cosmetics, photoconductor in office copying machines and in color...

Brick clays tend to be high in alkalis and iron, but low in alumina [14], The clays usually have moderate to high plasticity, which facilitates forming [25], Often, brick clays are actually shales [14], These clays fire at moderate temperatures (cone 1-5) and the resulting fired bodies are dark red. Clays with similar properties but different colors upon firing can be used to produce other products such as sewer tile and roofing tile [6], Nearly any red burning clay can be classified as brick clay.

Floor tiles of plasticized PVC can be made more flexible, more scratch resistant, to have a longer lifespan and have increased color fastness when treated with y-radiation. Explain.
