Collaborative partnerships

Feature 13. Forge reliable and collaborative partnerships with the communities served, managers of critical interdependent infrastructure, response organizations, and local utilities. 

As Atkisson, and colleagues have pointed out (1996), research subjects are best seen as active collaborators in the research process. The relationship between investigator and research participant is most respectful when it is structured as a collaborative partnership. This stance requires that participants be fully informed about the risks and benefits of the study, that they understand that the partnership is voluntary, and that they can discontinue participation at any time. 

Synthetic hiomaterials, whether they are metallic, ceramic or polymeric, shall be thoroughly tested for their in vivo hiocompadbility. In vivo animal tests apparently place a burden on the shoulders of many materials-hased research groups since such animal tests require tedious histological examinations and careful interpretation. In vitro osteoblast cell culture tests, mainly reporting the live/dead cell numbers and the popular ALP (alkaline phosphatase) activity data, have thus been the most routine tests performed by the materials-based research groups which lack collaborative partnerships with the external veterinarians and skilled histologists. DMEM (or a-MEM) solutions are the media of choice in such in vitro cell culture tests. 

Focus of a collaborative partnership is the development of a cross-company platform concept. Both partners build this platform contributing their product expertise. To support this collaboration with PLM concepts, typically a central PLM system is used to manage data of hoth partners. There is no need for all partners to internally run the same PLM solution as the so-called Partner Hub. It is an independent solution with a clear separation from the internal systems. Editing PLM data is typically only carried out in the internal PLM system. This avoids the simation that a designer has to work in two different PLM environments. The Partner Hub mirrors only the PLM data that are partner relevant.
