Typical of the temporary or manufacturing aid coating systems is the RISTON dry film photoresist for printed circuit (PC) board fabrication. This was the first of these systems developed. The RISTON product stmcture and the basic steps in its use are shown in Figure 2. It consists of a photopolymer sheet laminated between a Mylar cover sheet and a polyolefin separation sheet. It is manufactured as a continuous web (see Coating PROCESSES, survey), and is suppHed in roUs of varying width and photopolymer composition. [Pg.123]

A second, more sophisticated type of devices was fabricated in the following way. First a temporary gold layer, which closed the nonconducting gap between the two chromium electrodes, was evaporated. Subsequently a voided double-gyroid-structured template was prepared on this continuously metal-coated substrate and refilled with PPy. Then the redundant template was dissolved with xylene. Finally the superficial gold layer was etched with a wet gold etchant, which reestablished the gap between the chromium electrodes. [Pg.145]

Polymers may form an important part of the component s packaging as is the case with butt bonded thermocouples where the free filament is supported on a temporary polyimide film carrier which can be peeled off, or partly cut away, prior to attachment to the surface whose temperature is being monitored. The carrier is tough, dimensionally stable and able to withstand a continuous operating temperature of 260 °C. The frame is coated with a thermoplastic adhesive film to facilitate surface attachment. [Pg.41]

An analysis of the respiratory pattern published for Avena fatua during imbibition, germination and subsequent growth reveals the absence of a lag phase in oxygen uptake (Fig. 5.3 B). Several other seeds exhibit a similar feature (Table 5.1). There is no simple explanation for this lack of a lag phase, and we are not aware of any attempts in the literature to distinguish critically between seeds with and without a lag phase. It could be that the latter do not pass through a period of temporary anaerobiosis and there are no restrictions imposed by the seed coat or perhaps their efficient mitochondrial respiratory systems become established early to effect continuity of oxygen uptake. The matter is obviously worthy of further research, even if only to make sure in those instances where the lag phase seems to be absent that this is not due to a lack of measurements at the critical time period. [Pg.139]
