The electrocatalytic behavior of olefins was studied by Zanta et al. (2000) at thermally prepared ruthenium-titanium- and iridium-titanium-dioxide-coated anodes. The aliphatic olefins were shown to be inactive in the region before oxygen evolution, while aromatic ones showed one or two oxidation peaks, and the catalytic activity seemed to be the same for both substrates. However, as for platinum anodes, voltammetric studies and FTIR analyses have also shown the formation of a polymeric film that blocks the surface of the electrode and decreases its activity. [Pg.36]

PAn-nitrilic rubber composites76 have been prepared using rubber-coated anodes for electyropolymerization. The resultant material has the mechanical properties of a crosslinked elastomer with the electrical and electro-optical properties... [Pg.240]

Most etching, anodizing, or conversion coating surface preparation will produce joints of superior durability under stress and corrosive, saltwater exposure conditions. Mill-finish, vapor-degreased, or mechanically abraded surface joints performed poorly in comparison, regardless of alloy choice. [Pg.684]

The most important parts of the coating system are the preparation of the surface and the selection and application of the anti-corrosive medium (various anodic metaUic coatings, prefabrication primers, organic or inorganic corrosion-inhibiting primers, conversion coatings, anodizing). Undercoats are only for improvement of appearance. [Pg.357]

Another method for preparing alkah bromates is by electrolysis of bromine in alkah solutions. Anodes coated with Pb02 are used and a small amount of dichromate is added to prevent reduction of BrO at the cathode (76). [Pg.293]

The reaction mixture is filtered. The soHds containing K MnO are leached, filtered, and the filtrate composition adjusted for electrolysis. The soHds are gangue. The Cams Chemical Co. electrolyzes a solution containing 120—150 g/L KOH and 50—60 g/L K MnO. The cells are bipolar (68). The anode side is monel and the cathode mild steel. The cathode consists of small protmsions from the bipolar unit. The base of the cathode is coated with a corrosion-resistant plastic such that the ratio of active cathode area to anode area is about 1 to 140. Cells operate at 1.2—1.4 kA. Anode and cathode current densities are about 85—100 A/m and 13—15 kA/m, respectively. The small cathode areas and large anode areas are used to minimize the reduction of permanganate at the cathode (69). Potassium permanganate is continuously crystallized from cell Hquors. The caustic mother Hquors are evaporated and returned to the cell feed preparation system. [Pg.78]

We prepared ceria on Ni substrate by sol-gel coating method. Ceria sol solution was prepared with ceria sol solution (Alfa, 20% in H2O, colloidal dispersion) mixed with ethanol (99.9%, Hayman) with weight ratio (1 2) and stirred. Ceria was deposited on Ni substrate by dip coating method. The variation number of dipping was carried out to obtain different coating ratio. The anode was completely dipped into the ceria sol solution for several seconds and dried at a temperature of 50 C for 24 hours in air atmosphere followed by calcination at 700 C for 30 minutes in 5%H2-N2 atmosphere. [Pg.601]
