Clinitest

Test interactions Positive Coombs (direct) test, false-positive urinary and/or serum proteins, false-positive or false-negative urinary glucose using Clinitest Positive Coombs (direct) test, false-positive urinary and/or serum proteins... [Pg.1165]

Drug/Lab test interactions False-positive urine glucose reactions may occur with penicillin therapy if Clinitest, Benedict s Solution, or Fehling s Solution are used. It is recommended that enzymatic glucose oxidase tests (such as Clinistix or Tes-Tape) be used. Positive Coombs tests have occurred. High urine concentrations of some penicillins may produce false-positive protein reactions (pseudoproteinuria) with the P.870... [Pg.1477]

The commonly used Clinitest reaction for residual formaldehyde in reused dialysers fails to detect concentrations below 50 ppm (15). The use of Schiff reagent in ratios of 1 1 to 3 1, which can detect formaldehyde at concentrations of 3.6-5.0 ppm, has therefore been recommended (SEDA-12, 571) (16). It can also be used in combination with a glucose-containing dialysate. [Pg.1441]

Lye is used in household drain cleaners, ammonia, automatic dishwasher detergents, Clinitest tablets, oven cleaners, and bleaches. It is also used in the manufacture of soaps and cleaners and in chemical synthesis. [Pg.1563]

Side effects Headaches, fatigue, drowsiness, nausea, heartburn, vomiting, diarrhea. Vitamin C with aspirin or sulfonamides may cause crystal formation in the urine (crystalluria) and can also cause a false negative occult (blood) stool result and false positive sugar result in the urine when tested by the Clinitest method. [Pg.93]

Clinitest (Bayer Corporation, UK) was used to verify that the ferment had gone to completion. The ferments were centrifuged and the wine decanted from the lees. A sample (20mL) of each wine was stored in the dark at room temperature for aging studies. The lees (approx. 5mL) were extracted with 2xl0mL methanol/formic acid (90 10) with agitation. The methanol was removed by rotaiy evaporation, the remaining solution was made up to SmL with water and pH adjusted to approx 3.5 with sodium hydroxide (29). Samples were analysed immediately after the completion of fermentation and then on a weekly basis by HPLC. The clarified wines were also monitored by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. [Pg.130]
