Cleaning without chlorinated solvents

Hot presses are expensive. 2 Often used without rigorous surface preparation. 3 Plastics and rubber parts not normally cleaned and never with chlorinated solvent. 4 Inexpensive heating techniques available. 5 May need pre-shaping curved surfaces difficult. [Pg.118]

The ability of the membrane to concentrate solvents in the permeate varies. Sparingly soluble, volatile solvents such as chlorinated hydrocarbons, benzene and heptane are concentrated up to 100-fold and can be made fit for reuse without any additional treatment other than phase separation. More importantly, in the clean up of contaminated water, the water stream leaving the plant can be reduced to a solvent content of 10 ppm or even less, at which it may be possible to discharge it or polish it at low cost with AC. [Pg.31]

Today s environmental concerns demand clean reaction processes that do not use harmful organic solvents.Water is without doubt the most environmentally friendly solvent. NR latex is exuded from the Hevea tree as an aqueous emulsion therefore, it would be desirable to modify the NR latex. Many chemical reactions, such as hydrogenation, epoxidation, chlorination, graft copolymerization and oxidative degradation have been performed on the reactive double bonds of the isoprene structure along the molecular chain. [Pg.60]
