Circumflex artery

The eversion graft model for producing thrombosis in the rabbit artery was first described by Hergrueter et al. (1988) and later modified by Jang et al. (1989, 1990) and Gold et al. (1991). A 4- to 6-mm segment of the rabbit femoral or the dog left circumflex artery is excised, everted and then reimplanted into the vessel by end-to-end anastomoses. After restoration of the blood flow, a platelet-rich occlusive thrombus forms rapidly leading to complete occlusion of the vessel. 

A healthy 33-year-old man with prior cocaine use had a small myocardial infarction and, 36 hours later, having inhaled cocaine, developed a dissection of the left main coronary artery, extending distally to the left anterior descending and circumflex arteries. There was marked anterolateral and apical hypokinesis.

Step 1 assess the ST segment in lead I. In the case of depression, the occlusion is located in the RCA, and in the case of elevation, it is located in the circumflex artery (LCX). When the ST segment is isoelectric, one should proceed to Step 2.

The main blood supply to osteosarcomas in the proximal femur arises from the femoral circumflex and branches of the deep femoral arteries. Frequently, the segment of the deep femoral artery proximal to the origin of the circumflex arteries is so short that a catheter in this position is unstable and may dislodge into the superficial femoral artery resulting in inadequate infusion. This is best avoided by placing the catheter tip in the external iliac segment (Fig. 9.16).

There are two coronary arteries the right coronary artery which supplies blood to the inferior (bottom) part of the heart and the left coronary artery, which branches off into two further arteries, known as the left anterior descending artery, which supplies blood to the anterior (front) portion of the heart and the circumflex artery which supplies the lateral (side) of the heart.
