Choline salicylate, preparation

Choline salicylate ((2-hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium salicylate) is contained in a list of safe and effective compounds (30). Choline salicylate [2016-36-6] (5) is the only liquid salicylate preparation available and is often useful for arthritic patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets. [Pg.289]

A method of preparation is to react an acid salt of choline (such as choline chloride or choline bromide) with an alkaline salt of salicylic acid (such as sodium salicylate, potassium salicylate, or magnesium salicylate) in an alcoholic media. [Pg.334]

Phrenic-nerve hemidiaphragm preparations were preincubated in modified Krebs solution containing 1.0 x 10 6m [methyl-%]choline (specific activity 8 Ci/mmole) and 0.5 mM eserine salicylate for 30 min, followed by a brief rinse in eserine-containing modified Krebs solution but no label. Preparations were then incubated at 37°C in modified Krebs solution containing eserine for 120 min, taking duplicate 0.1 ml samples of the supernatant fluid at 10 min intervals. [Pg.361]
