Chloropropyl containing copolymers

Chloropropyl Containing Copolymers. Copolymer (IV), consisting of 60 mole % Me2SiO and 40 mole % ClCH2CH2CH2Si0i.5, was placed in a microwave oven at 1 KW input. At the end of 5 min the copolymer became very hot (>100°C). This means that if the copolymer is used to formulate an elastomer along with a curing agent one should be able to cure the sealant with microwave. [Pg.48]

Spectrum. On the other hand, this band is revealed in the spectrum of the styrene-0.6% DVB copolymer intensively crosslinked with 1 mol of MODE, which contains a comparable amount (1%) of pending chlorine. It is quite possible that industrial MN-200 contains chlorine of a different kind. A part of rather inert chlorine in the form of chloroethyl groups may have originated by the involvement of EDO into the Friedel—Crafts reaction. One may also assume that the initial copolymer of that product incorporates more DVB thus the unreacted pendent double bonds may have interacted with MCDE during the post-crosslinking reaction, leading to the formation of methyl chloropropyl ether fragments [105] ... [Pg.191]

Precursor polysiloxanes containing 3-chloropropyl groups pendent to the siloxane chains were generated via the hydrolytic polycondensation of (3-chloropropyl) methyldichlorosilane. This polymer can be subjected to equilibration or coequilibration with octamethylcyclotrisiloxanes catalysed by trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. A known amount of hexamethyldisiloxane is introduced to control the MW and to terminate the chain by trimethylsilyl groups. This procedure leads to a statistical distribution of units in the case of copolymers. [Pg.20]

A chloropropyl group containing poly(si 1sesquioxane) was also found to react with amine-terminated organic polymers to form graft copolymers of similar structure as described above. [Pg.112]

Acetyl chloride cleavage is also applicable to analysis of block EO/PO copolymers, as well as products containing butylene oxide (68). Propylene oxide groups are converted mainly to 2-chloro-l-methylethyl acetate and 2-chloropropyl acetate, with traces of 1,2-propylene diacetate. Simple GC determination of the ratio of chloroethyl acetate to total chloroethyl and chloropropyl acetates provides an accurate figure for EO content of copolymers up to about 30% EO. A calibration curve must be used for higher ratios (69). [Pg.313]
