4-Chloro-1-nitro benzene

LOD and LOQ were measured to assess the sensitivity of the FID, ECD and TSD detectors for GC analysis of various nitroaromatic compounds. A parallel connection of the three detectors at the end of a single narrow-bore capillary column enabled direct comparison of the chromatograms. Structural effects on the response were evaluated and detection mechanisms were discussed. Recommendations were made for identification purposes and for analysis of environmental samples of nitro- and chloro-nitro-benzenes in a wide range of concentrations451. [Pg.1126]

What is an immediate precursor of the target Because the final step will involve introduction of one of three groups—chloro, nitro, or propyl—w have to consider three possibilities. Of the three, we know that chlorinatioi. of o-nitropropylbenzene can t be used because the reaction would occur at the wrong position. Similarly, a Friedel-Crafts reaction can t be used as the final step because these reactions don t work on nitro-substituted (deactivated) benzenes. Thus, the immediate precursor of our desired product ij probably ni-chloropropylbenzene, which can be nitrated. This nitration gives a mixture of product isomers, which must then be separated (Figure 16.24). [Pg.630]

Derivation Boiling sodium salt of 4-chloro-3-nitro-benzene sulfonate with sodium sulfite, resulting in formation of sodium-2-nitrobenzene disulfonate, which is reduced with iron and acetic acid to aniline-2,5-disulfonic acid. [Pg.56]

An example of a quantitative SMR study correlating electronic properties and catalytic parameters is provided by the glutathione conjugation of para-substituted l-chloro-2-nitro-benzene derivatives (183). The values of log/j2 (second order rate constant of the nonenzy-matic reaction) and log (enzymatic reaction catalyzed by various glutathione transferase preparations) were correlated with the Hammett resonance cr value of the substrates, a measure of their electrophilicity. Regression equations with positive slopes and values in the range 0.88-0.98 were obtained. These results quantitate the influence of substrate electrophilicity on nucleophilic substitutions mediated by glutathione, be they enzymatic or nonenzymatic. [Pg.481]

The mono-, chloro-, bromo-, and iodo-benzenes are colourless liquids of peculiar odour. Di-chloro-, di-bromo-benzenes, tri- and hexa-chloro- and bromo-benzenes, are also known and mono-chloro-, C 6 H 4 C1(CH 3 ), and bromo-toluenes, together with di derivatives in the ortho, meta, and para modifications. The nitro-benzenes and toluenes are used as explosives. The following summary is taken from Dr A. Bemthsen s "Organic Chemistry" —... [Pg.61]

Quite lately a patent has been taken out for a mixture of nitro- naphthalene or di-nitro-benzene with ammonium nitrate, and consists in using a solvent for one or other or both of the ingredients, effected in a wet state, and then evaporating off the solvent, care being taken not to melt the hydrocarbon. In this way a more intimate mixture is ensured between the particles of the components, and the explosive thus prepared can be fired by a small detonator, viz, by 0.54 grms. of fulminate. Favier s explosive also contains mono-nitro-naphthalene (8.5 parts), together with 91.5 parts of nitrate of ammonia. This explosive is made in England by the Miners Safety Explosive Co. A variety of roburite contains chloro-nitro-naphthalene. Romit consists of 100 parts ammonium nitrate and 7 parts potassium chlorate mixed with a solution of 1 part nitro-naphthalene and 2 parts rectified paraffin oil. [Pg.68]
