China 985 Project

This work is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Project No. 20736002), Program for Changjiang Scholars and Innovative Research Team in University (No. IRT0721), and the 111 Project (No. B08021). The authors also would like to thank Dr. Jianwen Jiang of Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of National University of Singapore for his comments and revisions in the preparation of this paper. [Pg.213]

This study was supported by the Area of Excellence Scheme under the University Grants Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region, China (Project No. AoE/P-04/2004). [Pg.421]

Financial support from the Research Grants Council of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China (project number 7008/07P andHKU7005/ 08P) is gratefully acknowledged. [Pg.185]

The authors are grateful for financial supports from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People s Republic of China (project No. 2006BAD05A06), the New Century Talent Program of Ministry of Education of the People s Republic of China (project No. NECT-04-0243). [Pg.250]

Another step in the right direction, which has also been discussed earlier, is the Cornell-Oxford-China Study, or The China Project, which is directed at finding connections between diet and disease, with the inference that a plant-based diet is preventive. An estimate noted is that between 80 to 90% of all cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and other degenerative illnesses can be offset until old age, with the qualifier that the normal processes of aging are not so normal after all. [Pg.423]

The authors would like to deeply appreciate the fund support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Project no. 50904083)... [Pg.161]

We would like to acknowledge the University Development Fund (Nanotechnology Research Institute, 00600009) of the University of Hong Kong and RGC of HKSAR, China (Project No. HKU 713310E). [Pg.279]

We are grateful to the Ministry of Education of China and National Natural Science Foundation of China (Projects 20128005,20376010, and 20472012). [Pg.216]

The price differential at which coal becomes competitive with gas depends on plant size and the cost of capital, but based on estimates by the International Energy Agency (21) the required price ratio for gas to coal in North America falls into the range of 3.1 to 3.7 on an equivalent energy basis ( /MJ). Current prices give a gas/coal cost ratio nearer 1.5 to 2.0. As a result, all projected new methanol capacity is based on natural gas or heavy oil except for the proposed coal-based plant in China. [Pg.165]

Commercial and Artificial Processing. Commercially, silkworm cocoons are extracted in hot soapy water to remove the sticky sericin protein. The remaining fibroin or stmctural sdk is reeled onto spools, yielding approximately 300—1200 m of usable thread per cocoon. These threads can be dyed or modified for textile appUcations. Production levels of sdk textiles in 1992 were 67,000 metric tons worldwide. The highest levels were in China, at 30,000 t, foUowed byJapan, at 17,000 t, and other Asian and Oceanian countries, at 14,000 t (24). Less than 3000 metric tons are produced annually in each of eastern Europe, western Europe, and Latin America almost no production exists in North America, the Middle East, or Africa. 1993 projections were for a continued worldwide increase in sdk textile production to 75,000 metric tons by 1997 and 90,000 metric tons by 2002 (24). [Pg.77]

A second field evaluation of the ASP process has been initiated in Wyoming. Additionally, an ASP field project has been designed for the Peoples Repubhc of China. The appHcability of the ASP process to a variety of reservoirs has yet to be fully determined. AppHcation of alkali and alkali polymer flooding has been limited to cmde oils having discernible acid numbers, wherein the alkali produced cmde oil soaps which in combination with alkali resulted in providing low interfacial tensions. The ASP process appears to be suitable for cmde oils with nil acid numbers (177), and hence should have broad apphcabdity. [Pg.82]
