The editor of Chemical Processing magazine interviewed Trish Kerin in the May 2014 issue and reported. When the editor Mark Rosenzweig questioned Kerin about goals, I found one paragraph made the Centre s objective very plain [21].

Then too, the chemical market researcher was coming into his own at the war s end— and several magazines in the chemical process industries responded to the requests for more detailed statistics flowing into their offices. They published articles that gave data on the commercial interrelationship of chemicals and their ultimate markets.

A more detailed development of Lang factors, based on an analysis of 156 capital-cost estimates, was published by the editors of Chemical Engineering magazine in the September 30, 1963 issue on pages 120 and 122, as Cost File 81. A further refinement, carried out by Peters and Timmerhaus (1968), resulted in the most widely accepted values of the Lang factor, which are included in Table 16.16 and are the factors recommended here for use in Eqs. (16.9) and (16.10). The detailed breakdown of costs by Peters and Timmerhaus is given in Table 16.17, which assumes that major plant additions are made to an existing site, but that additional land is purchased. Along with an increase in PAT-related presentations there has been a dramatic increase in the number of publications documenting the technical developments and their impact A journal of PAT has been established (www.patjournal.com) and a number of trade journal articles have also been published on the importance of microinstrumentation developments for PAT. These trade journals include Control Magazine, Chemical Processing, Chemical and Engineering News, American Pharmaceutical Review and European Pharmaceutical Review. There are also periodic reviews of the PAT field in the journal Analytical Chemistry (4, 5].
