FIG. 23-2 The fire triangle showing the requirement for combustion of gases and vapors. [D. A. Crowl, Understanding Explosions, Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) copyright 2003 AIChE and reproduced with permission. ]... [Pg.7]

Even before these regulations existed, groups sudi as the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), the Institution of Chmiical Engineers (IChE), the Chemical Manufacturers Association (CMA), and the American Petroleum Institute (API) all promoted written procedures as a sound management practice. This practice, if firmly held, can lead to improved plant safety and product quality. Table 1-1 lists some organizations and documents that recommend or require procedmes. [Pg.5]

The following tables present evaluated rate constants and other chemical kinetic data required for modelling the combustion of hydrocarbons. The compilation was prepared as part of the project Kinetics and Mechanisms of Chemical Processes in Combustion , which is one of the projects in the third European Community Energy Research and Development Program. The tables are reprinted from Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data by permission of the authors and the American Institute of Physics. [Pg.958]

Employers are requiring prospective employees to have one or more of the following (1) formal training, (2) state-approved certification, (3) a technical degree, (4) experience, (5) satisfactory scores on a preemployment test, or (6) a combination of these attributes. The chemical processing industry and various educational institutions have entered into formal partnerships to facilitate the technical training of employees. [Pg.31]

Additionally, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers — Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) provides supplemental questions 1 to be used in a hazard evaluation which can apply to flash fire hazards. Appendix B of their document is to be used by employers to identify potential hazards. Section V on Personnel Safety asks, Is personal protective equipment required such as . . . skin/body protection (liquid splashes, vapors. [Pg.270]
