Notched Charpy impact strength

Charpy notched impact strengths in excess of 55 kJ/m have been reported for alloys with homopolymers and in excess of 20kJ/m for copolymers. [Pg.544]

It was found that PP-EPDM blends [30] with a slow curing EPDM have a high-impact strength. Effect of tet-ramethyl thiuram disfulfide (TMTD) concentration on the Charpy notched impact strength of PP-EPDM blend is given in Table 8. [Pg.640]

Fig. 25a provides a comparison of the Charpy notched impact strength (MS) at room temperature of the non-nucleated and of the /(-doped resins (fully -modified with 0.1 wt% calcium pimelate) as a function of the IV of the rubber. Both series show the same trends increasing the IV for the rubbery phase has a positive effect on the toughness. However, the delta between their respective fracture resistance at given IV, A(NIS), is not constant varying between 6% for an IV of 2 dgl-1 to 50% for an IV of 1.7 dg 1 1 ... [Pg.75]

Tests may be on the basic plastic or the material available as a film, sheet, component or container. One test is the Charpy notched impact strength, DIN 53453 standard. This involves either un-notched or notched samples tested against impact over a range of temperatures. The resilience is measured as kg/cm. The test is carried out on samples 15x 10x2 mm. ASTM D256 ft lb/in notch is found as the Izod notched impact test. [Pg.201]

Janik and Krolikowski [53] investigated the effect of Charpy notched impact strength and other mechanical properties such as tensile strength, flexural strength, elastic modulus, flexural modulus, melt viscosity, and fracture on the mechanical and rheological properties of PE-polyethylene terephthalate (PET) blends. [Pg.570]

Janick and Kroliskowski [40] investigated the effect of Charpy notched impact strength on the flexural modulus of polyethylene and polyethylene terephthalate. Polymers with good flexural modulus include polydiallylisophthalate (11.3 GPa), phenol-formaldehyde (6.5 GPa), alkyd resins (8.6 GPa), and polyphenylene sulfide (13.8 GPa), as well as glass-filled polyester laminate (16 GPa) epoxy resins (3-3.5 GPa), sUica-fiUed epoxies (15 GPa), and acetals containing 30% carbon fiber (17.2 GPa). [Pg.11]

It is important to note that the physical and chemical blowing agent strongly affected the mechanical characteristics of microcellular PP and PC/ABS. By increasing the CBA content in the PP, the charpy notched impact strength decrease up to 33%. [Pg.976]
