Chain initiation plasma

Chain Mechanism of Plasma-Chemical H2O Dissociation Stimulated hy Vibrational Excitation. Derive a formula for calculating of the IT2O dissociation chain length, related to mechanism (5-112) and (5-113), as a function of vibrational temperature and density of water vapor. Compare your result with the ratio of the total EI2O dissociation rate (5-116) to the rate of chain initiation (5-115). [Pg.353]

Due to plasma treatment the radicals (R, free spin) are generated on polymer chain. Not only C-H but also C-C bonds are likely to brake, the later leading to fragmentation of polymer chain. The radical concentration determined by EPR method is in Table 3. The concentration of free radicals R decreases during the aging to about quarter of the initial after 80 days. The decrease of R is a result of radical recombination [h]. Detailed comment of EPR observation ( aging of radicals) is described too [79]. [Pg.32]

Figure 20.35 Mechanisms by which external or internal stress leads to cell damage resulting in apoptosis. The stress leads to activation of initiator proteolytic enzymes (caspases) that initiate activation of effector caspases. These enzymes cause proteolytic damage to the cytoskeleton, plasma membrane and DNA. The activation of DNAases in the nucleus results in cleavage of DNA chains between histones that produces a specific pattern of DNA damage which, upon electrophoresis, gives a specific pattern of DNA fragments. The major endproduct of apoptosis are the apoptolic bodies which are removed by the phagocytes. These results provide extra evidence for the hypothesis of simultaneous chain growth polymerization and fluorine elimination via interaction with energetic species in the formation of plasma polytetrafluorethylene. This is also consistent with the observation that for a plasma of C2F4 confined in a closed system the pressure decreases initially to a minimum (polymerization) and then increases (fluorine elimination) producing a non-condensible gas ° . [Pg.32]

The biosynthesis of cellulose is less well understood than that of glycogen or starch. As a major component of the plant cell wall, cellulose must be synthesized from intracellular precursors but deposited and assembled outside the plasma membrane. The enzymatic machinery for initiation, elongation, and export of cellulose chains is more complicated than that needed to syn-... [Pg.775]
