Eield junction box drawings can range in complexity from a simple cable termination box or cabinet, to a local control station containing electrical/pneumatic equipment. Complex junction boxes may require information similar to that described above for instrument panels (e.g., specifications, drawings, test certificates), depending on the level of complexity involved. 

Pseudoephedrine, phenylpropronolamine, and ephedrine were reclassified as Schedule Listed Chemicals. The act established a Federal per-transaction sales limit which was reduced to 3.6 g. A purchase order for a cabinet should include provision and funds for testing and certification of the unit after dehvety and setup but before final payment is made. Few, if any, vendors routinely make provision for this service or have their own personnel to do it. In order to avoid a potential conflict of interest, this should be arranged by the purchaser with an independent contractor. The cabinet vendor should be willing to delay payment of their invoice for a reasonable period to allow this to be done. This provision needs to be made in the purchase contract so that no misunderstanding will occur. There are training programs that teach how to perform the tests properly and there are firms or individual consultants available that will perform the tests at a reasonable fee.

During the preparation of hazardous drugs, use a ventilated cabinet to reduce the potential for occupational exposure. Performance test methods and criteria for BSCs may be found in Primary Containment for Biohazards Selection, Installation and Use of Biological Safety Cabinets, second edition, CDC/NIH, 2000. A current field certification label should be prominently displayed on the ventilated cabinet per NSF/ANSI49. 

Next, the necessary isolations are completed and an isolation certificate is issued. The isolations are all locked and keys put in a locked cabinet, with the key held by the person in charge of doing the work. At that point, a pre-job brief can be given to the workers doing the job, and they complete the work. Afterwards, the plant is de-isolated, and the permit to work is withdrawn (Fig. 10.3, bottom).

The NSF 49 standard requires that a test for containment of microbiological aerosols be performed for the production model cabinet of each type. If that model cabinet passes the containment test, the testing certification under the NSF standard assumes that all other identical models would also pass. However, if a variation in the cabinet s operating environment caused by one or more of the conditions listed above occurs after the cabinet is installed, the cabinet could possibly fail to provide proper containment. 

There are certain guidelines which must be followed to ensure the proper use of the Class II biological safety cabinet. Before using the cabinet, the operator should ascertain whether it has been inspected for proper operation by a qualified technician, and whether it has passed certain tests to ensure that the performance of the unit meets the minimum standards set in the NSF Standard 49 (326).
