Chemical Characterization of Cerium-Based Oxide-Supported Gold Catalysts... [Pg.78]

As outlined in the introduction to this chapter, this section will briefly review the chemical characterization studies on cerium-based oxide-supported noble metal (NM) catalysts that have been published since the first edition of Catalysis by Ceria and Related Materials in 2002. We suggest a reading of this book for a detailed and critical account of earlier studies on the topic. [Pg.78]

In recent years, the most significant progress has been made in the chemical characterization of cerium-based oxide-supported gold catalysts. There are a number of reasons that justify this observation. First, the main principles governing the chemical behaviour of the classic NM(Rh, Pd, Ptj/CeOg and ceria-related catalysts were reasonably well... [Pg.78]

Hydrogen adsorption on cerium-based oxide-supported gold catalysts... [Pg.92]

Using some rather isolated data, in particular those obtained from TPR experiments carried out on cerium-based oxide-... [Pg.92]

In accordance with the considerations above, it is obvious that an in-depth analysis of CO adsorption for cerium-based oxide-supported gold catalysts represents a very challenging issue, which requires first, the identification of the nature of the main CO forms occurring on the surface of both the metal phase and the support, and second, the quantitative establishment of the contribution of each of these forms to the total amount of adsorbed CO. As will be discussed below in some detail, these goals have been successfully achieved in a series of recently published studies in which the chemisorption of CO on catalysts consisting of gold nanoparticles supported on ceria-zirconia mixed oxides was investigated. [Pg.100]

Alternative cerium salt oxidants with limited suitability have been discussed. Whereas cerium-IV sulfate Ce(S04)2 resulted in reasonable conductivities, but Ce-contaminated PEDOT, (NH4)2Ce(N03)6 yielded PEDOT with only low conductivity. So cerium-based oxidants do not represent advantages compared to iron-III. [Pg.96]
