Straight steel pipes up to 600 mm in diameter and six or more metres in length are usually lined by centrifugal casting. In this technique, the prepared preheated pipe is fitted with end caps and placed into the heated casting oven. Freshly mixed liquid polyurethane is then injected into the pipe which is then spun round its longitudinal axis until the polyurethane has cured to form a solid lining.

Specific casting techniques, such as full mould casting, centrifugal casting and continuous casting are applied where the product type requires it. 

All of the drained casting techniques, e.g. slip casting, pressure casting and centrifugal casting, involve a solid-liquid separation process to form a dense green body (Figure 9.8). A mould is filled with a suspension and the liquid is separated from the solid particles. 

Polyester can be used to fabricate a variety of products by many techniques such as open-mold casting, hand layup, spray-up, vacuum-bag molding, matched metal die molding, filament winding, pultrusion, encapsulation, centrifugal casting, and injection molding. 

There are several other batch processes. Vacuum bag and resin injection techniques have been used for specialist application but these are not used extensively in commercial practice. Centrifugal casting has been used for the manufacture of pipe sections but this is again a specialised area.
