The MARS Microwave Synthesis System (Fig. 3.12 and Table 3.2) is based on the related MARS 5 digestion instrument and offers different sets of rotor systems with several vessel designs and sizes for various synthesis applications. [Pg.40]

The biberty (Fig. 10), a monomode microwave reactor for automated SPPS, was recently introduced by the CEM Corporation [153]. Although this instrument was originally developed for SPPS, it also allows for a broader scale of solid-phase applications. The solid-phase vial is equipped with a polypropylene frit and cap at one end (the entire assembly fitting into the standard 10 mb CEM reaction vessel) to allow the processing of 0.1 to 1.0 mmol quantities of resin attached substrates. An integrated fiber optic probe provides... [Pg.91]

Decomposition in closed Teflon vessels at medium pressure (up to 8 bar) with microwave heating [43-44]. Microwave Digestion System MDS-81D (CEM Corporation, North Carofina, USA Floyd Inc., South Carolina, USA). [Pg.133]

Table 4.4 compares the most important information about the three decomposition systems. The main differences lie in the method of heating and the vessel material. The decomposition methods of the CEM Corporation, Floyd Corporation and Paar... [Pg.134]

Our initial attempts at using a plate-based systems for microwave synthesis relied upon commercially available systems. A simple plate turntable was available for the CEM Mars 5 system (CEM Corporation, Matthews, North Carolina, U.S.). Heating DMF to 130°C in the plates illustrated that the thermal stability of the plastic was an issue. The wells when heated above 90°C with solvent tended to melt and deform resulting in loss of solvent. In our investigation into higher temperature plates, we... [Pg.231]

Microwave drying was studied using CEM corporation moisture/solids/analyzer, Model AVC -80, equipped with a built-in electronic balance having a maximum load of 8 g and a sensitivity of 0.2 mg. The microwave had a frequency of 2450 MHz and variable power from 0 to 600 W. Power of 600 W was used in this experiment. [Pg.52]

A common commercial closed system is the Microwave Accelerated Reaction System (MARS ) 5, as supplied by the CEM Corporation, USA (Figure 5.7). This system allows up to 14 extraction vessels (XP-1500 Plus ) to be irradiated simultaneously. In addition, other features include a function for monitoring both pressure and temperature, and most notably, the system is equipped with... [Pg.59]

Hydrothermal procedure was performed by heating at 90 °C for 72 h (samples denoted (Sn)MCM-41/HT) and synthesis with applying of microwave irradiation was carried out at 90 °C for 3 h (samples denoted (Sn)MCM-41/MW). The sample was transferred into a microwave digestion system (CEM Corporation, MAR-5). All solid products were filtered off, washed with deionized water, dried at 100 °C and calcined in a stream of air at 550 °C for 6 hours. The prepared samples are listed in Table 1. [Pg.57]

Automated peptide synthesizers have been in use for several decades and have provided much needed assistance for manual synthesis of long peptides. In 2003, CEM Corporation introduced the first automated microwave peptide synthesizer, Odyssey. This system was updated shortly afterwards to the current version, Liberty (Fig. 20.6). [Pg.906]
