Anti-CD45 antibody BC8 labelled with 131-1 may reduce the rate of tumour relapse and has acceptable toxicity in patients with AML, ALL or myelodysplastic syndrome who underwent stem-cell rescue [138]. Of 25 patients treated with advanced AML and myelodysplastic syndrome, seven were disease-free at 15-89 months post-transplantation. Of nine patients with advanced ALL, three were disease-free at 23,58 and 70 months post-transplantation, respectively.

Theratope was given to patients with breast or ovarian cancer who received peripheral blood stem cell rescue after chemotherapy. Toxicity was mostly local. In vitro, NK activity which was low before immunization returned to normal values, toxicity against cells bearing sTn antigen appeared, and lymphocytes responded to sTn, by proliferation and IFN-y production. Since myelosuppression is the usual dose-limiting toxicity of RIT, 131I-anti-Bl therapy has also been evaluated in the setting of high-dose, myeloblative doses followed by autologous stem cell rescue (176-178). 

Two observations suggest near normal function for rcel cells. First, loss of Rcelp minimally impacts hematopoiesis in otherwise normal tissue [46].
