Categories of people

Bogus, Carl T. NRA Money, Firepower, and Fear. Tikkun, January/Feb-ruary 1994, pp. 79ff. Autobiographical article that tells the story of a prominent attorney who became a convert to the cause of gun control after he was shot by a disturbed client. At first he tries to mediate between gun control supporters and the NRA, but he concludes that gun supporters are intransigent and that only a massive political mobilization of gun control advocates will achieve the necessary objective of restricting guns to only a few categories of people. 

The Six Thinking Hats are about modes of behavior, not categories of people. 

Society must be remade before it can be the object of quantification. Categories of people and things must be defined, measures must be interchangeable land and commodities must be conceived as represented by an equivalent in money. There is much of what Weber called rationalization in this, and also a good deal of centralization. 

Cocaine abuse is not selective—it does not only happen in certain neighborhoods, in certain schools, or among a certain class or category of people. Drug abuse happens everywhere.

As early as 1952 Kroeber and Kluckhohn had already compiled a list of 164 definitions of culture (Kroeber and Kluckhohn 1952) so it does not appear useful to embark on a personal definitional craise. Hofstede defines culture briefly as the collective programming of the mind, which distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another (Hofstede 2001 9) and considers cultirre mental software . He distinguishes three levels of such mental programming (Hofstede 1991 6,2001 3) ... 

Culture is the acquired and collective knowledge groups or categories of people use to interpret experience and generate behaviour, which distinguishes them from other groups or categories of people. 

There are very few recent publications about the clinical manifestations of a biotin deficiency, probably because the needs in biotin are usually satisfied. Nevertheless, certain categories of people may be particularly subjected to biotin deficiency, for instance pregnant women, patients being co-administered certain drugs, or having deficiencies of the enzymes involved in biotin homeostasis, etc.
