Carousel machines

The most commonplace type of rotomolder is the carousel machine (Fig. 9.4) that has three stations or positions. It has a loading/unloading station, heating station (usually an oven), and cooling station. Cooling usually takes place in an enclosed compartment. The mechanism, as the name indicates, resembles that of a carousel. One or more spindles are connected at one end to a turret or central hub, and to one or more molds at the other end. [Pg.255]

In a similar evaporative loss study, a defined volume of distilled water was placed in reagent vials that were weighed on a Mettler balance and placed in the reagent carousel. The instrument s lid was kept closed, and at intervals, the measurements were repeated. During the test, the temperature within the machine averaged 25 °C, and the humidity was 28%. After 2 h, the reagent vials had lost 6% of their original volume. [Pg.448]

The type of molding machine available has an important influence upon the blow opening system used. Some machines, for instance, use needle blowing exclusively. Hollow needle insertion at the mold parting line is considered when a very small opening is required that may even need closing or if the hollow object must be blown up on the side, e.g., on carousels with a series of molds. [Pg.287]

There is double-axis rotation, carousel, shutde, clamshell, rock-and-roll machines, and so on. These designs are similar to other molding systems whereby multiple molds can be used to speed up or even simplify production. Double-axis RM uses two platforms to hold molds. The carousel types can have three to six arms for mounting molds. [Pg.435]

The Cadenza incorporates a robotic pipet system that picks up reagents from a reagent carousel and delivers them to the appropriate slide(s). The instrument is controlled by a built-in computer, and has an LCD display and a keyboard for programming a staining run. The machine can store up to 10 programs of the user s design with a capacity of 20 slides/stain-... [Pg.391]

In another case,l l PFA (with a melt flow rate of 4-9 g/lO-min) was first mixed with 0.1% by weight of a tin powder, 0.03% by weight of N-phenyl-a-naphthylamine, and 0.02% by weight of carbon black. This mixture was tumbled in a drum while being heated to a temperature of 304°C-310°C which lightened the color of the mixture. The cooled powder was loaded in the cavity of a carousel-type rotolining machine. Tin helped eliminate the bubbles from the part. [Pg.233]

Bursters from the mortars and projectiles are fed into the BWMs by a pick-and-place machine and processed in the BWMs to wash out aU explosives (Parsons, 2000c). There is one BWM in each ECR (total of two). The BWM has a rotary carousel with multiple receptacles. Bursters are aligned with a multinozzle water-jet washout probe on the BWM so that the jet cuts into the explosive charge axially from the open end. The water jet, which contains no abrasive, is injected at about 12,000 psi, although lower pressures of 2,000 to 3,000 psi are being considered. When the jet reaches the end of the burste tube, the water-jet probe is withdrawn. The washed burster tubes are discharged from the BWM one at a time onto a conveyor for transport to a container-loading station in the parts transfer area and then conveyed to the batch MPT for 5X decontamination. [Pg.70]

Modern rotational-molding machines enable large parts to be molded (e.g., 500-lb car bodies and 500-gal industrial containers). For producing small parts an arm of a carousel-type machine may hold as many as 96 cavities. [Pg.262]

Equipment. The eqnipment used in rotational molding is simple many variations are available. The most common type is the so-called carousel type (Fig. 1). This machine consists of a heating station or oven, a cooling station (frequently an enclosed chamber), and a loading and imloading station. A carousel has three to six spindles or arms where the mold or molds are moimted. Most carousels have the freedom to revolve in a complete circle. The spindles are moimted on a central hub and driven by variable motor drives. New control systems allow each arm to operate independently in movement and control of oven temperature and time. Microprocessors are incorporated in the control system. Computer simulation software can be utilized in prototyping and manufacturing. [Pg.7234]
