Carbon fiber reinforced polymer surface preparation

Another interesting approach for considerable improvement of the interfacial adhesion is offered by the phenomenon of transcrystallization. The formation of transcrystaUine layers comprising PP spheroUtes on the surface of glass and carbon fibers reinforced PP and other polymer matrix composites is well known and widely studied case (e.g., [28]). Lamellar transcrystalline layers of PP or of PE (matrix) have been observed also on the surface of PET microfibrils (reinforcement) in the respective microfibrillar composites (MECs) prepared from the PP/PET or PE/PET blend [29-32]. [Pg.348]
