Recent tests have revealed surprisingly good fatigue and creep resistance for carbon/carbon composites. Figure 29 presents some results of torsion and flexure tests in which the fatigue properties of carbon-fiber-reinforced carbon (CFRC) 3D composites are compared with those of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) 3D composites (53).

The structural reinforcement of floors in brick and cement is one of the most common applications of using pulbuded sheets or carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) fabrics, thanks to the rapidity of application and the many advantages they offer. The reinforcement may be deemed necessary on several different occasions. 

An interesting example of the fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthening of reinforced concrete (r.c.) buildings is the stmctural adjustment of Hotel Boscolo Exedra in Nice, France. In order to achieve an increase of the live loads and a seismic adjustment of the structure, alongside traditional r.c. interventions, several carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) strengthenings have been carried out on both the beams and the columns, as shown in Figs. 10.1,10.2, and 10.3. 

In this case, an aluminum-carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) adhesively bonded SLJ was investigated [46]. Woven CFRP adherent having 0° ply orientation was bonded with an aluminum adherend by epoxy structural adhesive DP 760.

Many large-diameter pipelines owned by public utilities, power generation facilities, and industrial sites are located in areas where any excavation is challenging or undesirable. For these types of limited access pipes, and especially in cases where targeted repairs of distressed pipes are to take place, the use of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) lining becomes the most cost-effective and efficient repair or upgrade solution. 

Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) lining systems have been used increasingly for internal rehabilitation of water and wastewater pipelines since the mid-1990s. The primary motivation for use of CFRP linings as a rehabilitation technology is minimizing disruption to the surrounding environment, particularly for distressed pipelines with difficult access to the exterior of the pipeline.
