Caldum fluoride

When food lodges between teeth, adds form that dissolve tooth enamel, which contains the mineral hydroxyapatite, Cas(P04)30H. Tooth decay can be reduced by adding fluoride to toothpaste. Fluoride replaces the hydroxide in hydroxyapatite to produce the corresponding fluorapatite, Cas(P04)3F, and caldum fluoride, CaF2, both of which are less soluble in acids than the original enamel. 

Alternatively, antisealants can be used to control caldum carbonate scale at LSI values as high as 2.0-2.5, depending on the specific antisealants. Calcium also forms scales with fluoride, sulfate, and phosphate. The LSI will not help predict these scales analysis of water quality, using the ion product and solubility constants, is required to determine the potential for scaling with caldum fluoride or calcium phosphate. Antisealants currently available can address calcium fluoride and caldum sulfate scale they do not address calcium phosphate scale (although newer antisealants will be available in the near future to address this scale).

Besides calcium carbonate, there are three other caldum-based compounds that will scale RO membranes. These compoimds are calcium sulfate, phosphate, and fluoride. Although there are no specified feed water guidehnes for these compoimds, they are worth investigating.
