6 Calculation of heat transfer coefficients for boiling in free flow 

Basically, it has been ascertained that the current models contain one or more of the following mechanisms for heat transfer  

Microconvection in the boundary layer adjacent to the wall as a result of the rapid growth of the vapour bubble and its collapse in the subcooled liquid. 

Displacement of hot liquid from the wall by the growing and detaching vapour bubbles, and the back-flow of cold liquid from the core to the wall. 

Transient heat conduction to the liquid transported in the wake of a bubble.
