Chemica.1 Properties. Reviews of carbonyl sulfide chemistry are available (18,23,24). Carbonyl sulfide is a stable compound and can be stored under pressure ia steel cylinders as compressed gas ia equiUbrium with Hquid. At ca 600°C carbonyl sulfide disproportionates to carbon dioxide and carbon disulfide at ca 900°C it dissociates to carbon monoxide and sulfur. These carbene (or alkylidene) complexes are used for various transformations. Known reactions of these complexes are (a) alkene metathesis, (b) alkene cyclopropanation, (c) carbonyl alkenation, (d) insertion into C-H, N-H and O-H bonds, (e) ylide formation and (f) dimerization. The reactivity of these complexes can be tuned by varying the metal, oxidation state or ligands. Nowadays carbene complexes with cumulated double bonds have also been synthesized and investigated [45-49] as well as carbene cluster compounds, which will not be discussed here [50]. 

Nicolaou and coworkers reported a new method for preparing glyco-syl fluorides (38) from phenyl thioglycosides (37) by treatment with di-ethylaminosulfur trifluoride (DAST)-A -bromosuccinimide (NBS), or HF-pyridine-NBS, the phenylthio group of the thioglycosides being initially activated by NBS. Soil The rate of hydrolysis of carbaryl in flooded soil increased when the soil was pretreated with the hydrolysis product, 1-naphthol (Rajagopal et al, 1986).
