Burns reference phase

Let us consider the system of electric dipoles and other defects randomly distributed in the film paraelectric phase. Similarly to the random field model for bulk relaxor ferroelectrics [83], this phase is called Burns reference phase. For example, the relaxor ferroelectric Pbo,92Lao,osZro,65Tio,3503 (PLZT) (where La ions are the main sources of random field) is known to have the Burns phase simply as the paraelectric phase of PbZro,65Tio,3s03 (PZT). Latter phase exists at T > Tj, Td is so-called Burns temperature and Td = 1), where Tc is transition temperature form paraelectric to ferroelectric phase in PZT. The indirect interaction of electric dipoles via soft phonon mode of a host crystal tends to order the system and so to generate the ferroelectric phase in it [84]. However, the direct interaction of dipoles and other defects like point charges, try to disorder a system, transforming it into relaxor ferroelectric. [Pg.132]

Is the Sun then eternal And if not, what stage has it reached in its evolution In fact, the Sun is in the simplest and longest-lasting phase of a star s evolution, the quasi-static phase of core hydrogen burning, referred to as the main sequence. [Pg.79]

The pretrial burn phase of the permit allows the BIF to achieve the state of operational readiness necessary to conduct the trial burn. The pretrial burn permit conditions are effective for the minimum time (not to exceed 720 h) required to bring the BIF to a point of operational readiness to conduct a trial bum. This phase is often referred to as the shakedown period. [Pg.974]

Referring to Section 3.5, the burning mode of an Mg-Tf pyrolant can be understood by the use of Eqs. (3.73)-(3.76). If one assumes a homogeneous condensed phase, the heat balance at the burning surface is represented by... [Pg.314]

Cachia, p 513, he referred to "the clear indication that shock initiation can proceed either by a continuous intensification of the entering shock, or via an intermediate burning phase which may last tens of microseconds . When initiation is achieved by... [Pg.395]

The relatively simple structure of laminar flames has made it possible to characterize this class of flames rather completely. Except for the pressure-dependence of burning velocity, the effects of most variables on laminar burning velocity and on wallquenching have been established. Turbulent flames, on the other hand, have a complex structure which has not yet been elucidated. Therefore, turbulent burning velocities can only be measured with reference to arbitrarily chosen flame surfaces. Another phenomenon connected with turbulent flames is gas-phase quenching study of this problem has hardly begun. [Pg.183]
