Bubble bore holes

Slurries may contain sensitizing additives (e.g. TNT PETN, etc.) sensitization can also be achieved by introducing finely dispersed air bubbles, e.g. by introducing air-filled - Microballoons (in this form the bubbles will not be compressed by static pressure). Sensitized slurries can be cap-sensitive and may detonate even when the diameter of the bore-hole is small - Emulsion Slurries. Sensitized explosive slurries in the form of cartridges can be utilized in boreholes of conventional and large diameters. In addition, explosive slurries may be pumped into large boreholes. [Pg.352]

Put grids in Eppendorf microtubes filled with an antigen retrieval solution (10 mmol/1 citric acid, pH 6.0) and heat them in a domestic pressure cooker at boiling point for 2 5 min (Buchwalow et al. 2004, 2005). The cap of the microtube must have a hole bored by a needle in order to prevent the loss of the material in the process of bubble formation when boiled in a retrieval solution. [Pg.104]

A similar effect can be observed in the corrosion of top horizontal surfaces situated over the melt (e.g. in the throats of glass melting furnaces). A bubble of gas adhering to the interface will develop intensive flow in its neighbourhood as a result of a surface tension gradient and will quite rapidly bore a cylindrical hole in the upward direction ( bubble drilling ). Drops of molten metal act similarly but in the opposite direction (e.g. metallic lead at the glass furnace bottom). [Pg.185]
