The British Standards Institution Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 100 [8] covers the range of materials used to make the compost, their quahty arrd traceability, the minimttm requirements for the process of composting and the quality of the end product The PAS 100 specification is a minimum specification and limits stones, weed seeds and pl sical and chentical contaminants.

For detailed expositions of properties and uses the reader is referred to publications on many specialised aspects obtainable from the Copper Development Association offices in various countries. A special mention is for the Publicly Available Specification PAS 55, published in April 2004 by the British Standards Institution (BSI) which covers the requirements for good asset management. The model appearing in this standard was also considered for the accomplishment of this investigation.

The International Electrochemical Commission (lEC) have prepared a battery standards specification EEC Publication 86 Primary Cells and Batteries, Parts 1 and 2, 1975. The relevant British Standard is BS 397. Both are available from the British Standards Institution, 2 Park Street, London WlA 2BS.
