Bridging ligands boron

The halides participate as terminal and bridge ligands and can be included in inner and external spheres of this kind of complex. A few examples of compounds with such terminal ligands are the boron ammines [BX3 NH3], [BX2(NH3)2]X, BX(NH3)3]X2, and [B(NH3)4]X3 (X = F, Cl, Br, I). Halides form part of many mixed-ligand carbonyl complexes, for example, Fe(CO)4I2 and polyhalide anions with various elements [4], In this respect, the structure of the anion [Re2Clx]2 provides important information the Re — Re bond is present and the chlorine atoms have a bridge function [4]. [Pg.32]

X-Ray diffraction analysis has shown (CO)3MnB8Hi3 to contain a terdentate Bg ligand, bonded to the Mn by two Mn—H—B bridges from borons bordering the open face of the boron cage, and one Mn—H—B bond from an adjacent B in the... [Pg.68]

NANOSIZED CLUSTERS or nanoclusters is a term given to particles of any kind of matter, the size of which is greater than that of typical molecules, but is too small to exhibit characteristic bulk properties. Examples of such materials include the family of carbon-based fullerenes, weakly bound van der Waals clusters observed in the gas phase, metal carbonyl clusters, boron carbides and hydrides, metal clusters surrounded by protecting ligands, and metal ions connected by bridging ligands. Of special... [Pg.294]
